Understanding the Common Terms
There are some terms that are commonly used on plays even on mobile, these terms are the so-called common terms. If you are a player yourself, you must know and understand what these terms are all about.
Common Terms
- Aces Full – A full house of aces with any pair.
- All In – To put all money or chips into the pot.
- Ante – Placed before the game begins and can be in a form of money, chips or other items.
- Bankroll – The money intended for playing poker.
- Big Blind – Amount of money required to be placed in the pot before the game begins.
- Blind – Bets that must be placed by the two players to the left of the dealer at the start of the game.
- Bluff – To trick rest of the players about the hand presently being played.
- Boat – A full house.
- Buy In – Amount of money needed to start the game.
- Call – To match a previous bet.
- Check – To pass the betting option to the next player.
- Ducks – A pair of twos, any suit and known as duces as well.
- Flop – The first three cards shown by the dealer in Texas Holdem.
- Fold – To get out from the game.
- Full House – A hand of two cards of the same rank and three other cards of a different rank.
- Hole Card – Players’ personal cards.
- Kicker Card – Used to determine the winner when there’s a tie. Normally, it’s the lowest hole card.
- Ladies- Two queens.
- Limp– To place the lowest amount during first betting round.
- Muck – To throw away an undesirable hand.
- Monster – A great hand and really can win.
- Nuts – The best possible hand.
- Outs – The amount of cards left in the deck which can make a favorable hand.
- Pot – All of the placed chips, bets and money.
- Raise – To increase the bet.
- Re-buy – The amount of money intended to buy more chips and to continue playing.
- River – The last card dealt.
- Small Blind – Money placed in the pot by the player directly sitting to the left of the dealer.
- Tell – Physical clues about current hand being played or about possible move to make.
- Tilt – To go emotional while on play.
- Walking Sticks – A pair of 7’s.
