This is not only because it must have been the next most popular primary poker variety right after Omaha and it might been the favorite of Americans, but also because it is actually a great poker variety and it is just so enjoyable.
Seven-Card Stud is actually like many others. It can be played by 2-7 players with each entitled to get three hidden cards or known as down cards and four open cards or known as up cards. It is only that it has no board cards or known as community cards.
But Seven-Card Stud also makes use of antes. Players are the ones to place them of course. Then it also makes use of dealer who must deal each player all the cards needed. First few cards to deal to each player are the two down cards and then the one up card. The two down cards are called hole cards or pocket cards, by purpose. The next card is another up card. It is called the turn or the fourth street. Then next card is another up card. It is called the river or the fifth street. And next card is another up card. Last card is one down card.

Seven-Card Stud seems to be like Texas Holdem and even Omaha in some ways. What makes it little different is it has no board cards or community cards. If you are familiar of the two other varieties, playing it will somehow be just simple.
