The No Limit Texas Holdem Do’s and Don’ts:

The do’s

  • Only intend time to play hands that are worth playing. With them, it is reasonable to take risk and play. Their opposite, when played, are just a waste of time.
  • Think about the opposition. You have to consider who makes it up and the tendencies and potential involved.
  • Seriously consider all big bets. Same goes with the raises most especially at the turn or river. It must be remembered at all times that in No Limit Texas Holdem, most players do not bluff a lot.
  • Be choosy with regards to the tables. Only go for tables that there is obvious advantage and at the same time great winning chances. Tables with some beatable or weak players might be a good choice.
  • By calling, take risk at pre-flop. However, to be risk-free, there must be presence of a premium or superior hand.

The don’ts

  • When facing a bet, call with weak cards. This is not really a good idea.
  • Either over bet the pot or under bet the pot. Both only mean risk with no guarantee of having a good pot after the game ends. Thus, it won’t help to either over bet the pot or under bet the pot.
  • Call very often. Nonetheless, it is acceptable to call however not very often and there must be good reason for it for an instance to get rid of some tight opponents.
  • Play a lot of starting hands. As always, there is nothing to gain from doing so. It is best to just play a few and fold hands such as AJ particularly when in the under the gun position.
  • When odds say it is a beat, continue with a decent hand. This will just put whole stack at great risk.
